The Lighthouse After School Multipoupose Program is part of the Out-of-School Time grant. This program is delivered as part of the DHS continuum of prevention programs and activities designed to contribute to the overall well-being of youth through access to services that promote their health, physical, social, educational, and emotional development. They are designed for all youth, particularly those who need to be diverted from or have current or previous involvement in the child welfare system.
To ensure that City of Philadelphia DHS funded OST system strives toward shared goals supported by best practices, all General OST Strategy providers will be required to integrate the following content areas into their program delivery:
Elementary School Model: Early Literacy Practices
Middle School Model: High School Transition and Career Awareness
High School Model: Career Preparation
These content areas are not truly enriching or effective without being embedded into hands-on and engaging activities in topic areas that children and youth enjoy. In addition to providing academic supports and homework help, providers must embed content areas referenced above through one or more of the following delivery methods:
Creative and Performing Arts
Athletics and Health
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
